Pathway 2 Success partners with Mercy Keepers in order to help families or individuals in need meet their essential daily needs in the St. Petersburg community that go without proper food, shelter, and essential medical care every day due to a variety of factors including low wages, job loss, injuries, illness, age, domestic violence or divorce.
Mercy Keepers Food Bank is a ministry established and supported by 20th Street Church Of Christ. Early 2002, Mr. Edward Sauls shared a vision he had of building a seniors’ living facility for the community around 20th Street Church of Christ. The church leadership agreed to the vision and supported the endeavor. Later in the year, a group composed of Edward Sauls, Anthony Sullivan, Helen LueAllen Minton, Johnny Roberson, Richard Cuffie, Wanda Stuart, and Willie Washington were given the opportunity to start work on the project. This group established the Non-profit organization, Mercy Keepers, Inc.
The group organized a food pantry for the community, and it has been the primary focus of the group since 2005. Seven full years have passed since the establishment of Mercy Keepers’ Food Bank. The Food Bank serves over 2,500 low-income people monthly every Tuesday and Thursday from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
